Chair Message

Dear Colleagues,

It gives me immense pleasure to host the 16th IPA International Congress (IPA 2013) in Seoul, Korea from October 1st to 4th, 2013. On behalf of the IPA 2013 Organizing Committee, I extend a very warm and cordial invitation to all of you.

IPA has held International Congresses since it was founded in 1982. As the most highly acclaimed meeting in the field of the mental health and aging for old people, IPA 2013 is expected to draw participants from around the world.

Under the theme “Towards Successful Aging: Harmony of Mental, Physical and Social Life,” a wide range of scientific programs will be organized. Advances in the treatment of dementia, depression and other mental disorders in the elderly and the improvement of quality of care will be discussed and explored in a diverse, multidisciplinary and open forum. We are assembling internationally renowned groups of scientists and clinicians (all experts in their field) to contribute to the core program while also providing opportunities for bright, promising young researchers to present their data and new ideas. The program will be comprehensive, stimulating, and informative.

IPA 2013 will be a highly rewarding international experience for everyone. Additionally, I encourage you to take this chance to explore the many facets of Seoul and experience our unique Korean culture.

I look forward to meeting you at IPA 2013 in Seoul, Korea.

President Message

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of IPA and in collaboration with my esteemed colleague Han Yong Jung, 2013 Congress Chair and President of the Korean Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, I want to invite all professionals engaged in the challenging field of psychogeriatrics to attend the IPA 16th International Congress to be held October 1-4, 2013 in the fascinating city of Seoul, Korea.

The Congress theme this year is “Towards Successful Aging: Harmony of Mental, Physical and Social Life.” As the life expectancy of adults continues to increase, this theme is more important than ever before. Under the leadership of Doh Kwan Kim, the Congress Scientific Committee is organizing a program which will highlight the latest research and clinical care practices in a wide variety of topics related to the mental health well-being of older adults that will appeal to a multi-disciplinary audience.

The Congress will also offer opportunities for IPA members and others to meet and discuss their common concerns in the IPA Member Forums … by discipline, geographic region and shared interest.

Please join us and attend this meeting for the education, the research and the opportunity to connect and collaborate with colleagues from around the world!

IPA President
